The Tax Institute strengthens its position

SYDNEY, 21 October 2020: The Tax Institute CEO Giles Hurst today announced its latest acquisition, Scott Treatt, who was most recently an Assistant Commissioner with the Australian Taxation Office and prior to that, one of the stand-out tax partners within the tax profession.
Scott joins The Tax Institute to lead the Tax Policy and Advocacy team.

“We were certainly very keen to get Scott on board and we are now excited he is joining us” Hurst said.

Scott is a strong leader with significant industry experience. As a Chartered Tax Advisor, he has worked in the tax profession since 1997 in Big 4, large middle tier firms as well as Government. His experience covers all aspects of tax. Having also been a regular presenter at industry events and a lecturer for some 12 years in The Tax Institute’s structured education programs, he brings with him a passion for tax education.

“We wanted someone who could bring balance to the role; someone who understands the tax profession and understands Government; but most importantly someone who has the best outcomes for our tax system at heart.”

“Scott has the leadership capabilities to not only drive the Tax Policy and Advocacy team at The Tax Institute, but to lead the right conversations in tax and to make a mark as we work towards improving our tax system.” said Hurst.

The Tax Institute continues to go from strength to strength. Scott now adds to a growing list of talented people acquired by The Tax Institute, including former Second Commissioner and industry stalwart, Andrew Mills and Robyn Jacobson.
